HOW THEY MET: Kurt and I met on October 23, 1999. My friend Julie "introduced" us.... I can never thank her enough!

HOW THEY GOT ENGAGED: Kurt proposed on June 30, 2001 on the coast of Santa Barbara, California. He had casually made plans for us to spend the day in Santa Barbara, and at the time I thought it was a spur of the moment decision. We spent the day having lunch, shopping, and just walking about. We then decided to head to the beach to watch the sunset. Kurt had prepared a small picnic and as the sun began to set we enjoyed strawberries, chocolate and champagne. I recognized the bottle of champagne from his house because it was something that he had been saving for a special occasion. In retrospect, there were so many clues that something was eminent, but I was still unaware of what was to follow. The sun had finally set and it was absolutely gorgeous. We sat on the beach holding each other to keep warm as it soon began to cool down. I told Kurt that I thought it would be a good idea to leave before it got much colder, but he talked me into staying a little longer. Although the sky was still beautiful the wind was picking up, so we finally agreed to leave. As I stood up he grabbed my hands, went to one knee and started to reminisce about our love affair and how much I meant to him, and how much we meant to each other. And then with one last final breath he asked me to make his dreams come true, expressed his love to me, pulled the ring from his pocket, and asked me to marry him. Without a blink, or even a peek at the ring, I said yes and started to cry and cry. When we stopped hugging, I dried my eyes and finally looked at the ring. I was blown away... I couldn't ask for anything more beautiful.

Their wedding date was April 27, 2002. Their wedding was a dual ceremony, Cambodian in the morning at Dalia's parent's home and church in the afternoon at St. Bartholomew's Church in Long Beach, CA. Their reception was held at The Reef on the Water.
